Later on....we'll conspire...as we dream by the fire...

OK. I'm not sure how this is going to work. I'm sure I'm not going to set this up in the best way but I'm going to do it nonetheless. If you are very politically or philosophically interested or curious, this will be fun....I hope.

For the last....um.....8 years mostly, I've paid especially close attention to the political world, particularly that of the Bush Administration and the goings on in the country and the world during that time. And during that time, there have been some major events that have sort of rocked us all: The attacks on the WTC on September 11, 2001, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, Hurricane Katrina, outrageously priced petroleum, the meltdown of the U.S. economy, and others. I've heard many theories about the why's and what's and how's of these events. But I don't think we've been given many straightforward answers. So, I have come up with several conspiracy theories. Now, don't get me wrong; I'm not hording guns, ammunition, food and water and living in a bunker somewhere. I don't put a ton of stock into most of these conspiracy theories. But I am interested to, one day, find out what the facts were. And, I've heard some theories that are a bit out there, to say the least.

So, I'm beginning a new blog project, that I'm hoping will draw people's theories and thoughts out, in regards to the above-mentioned events, as well as others. There will be no guidelines; you can tell me what you've seriously, actually thought, or you can just give examples of the crazier conspiracy theories you've come across. As well, your responses can be just the general musings that have plagued your mind from time to time. And this will not just apply to the Bush Administration. I will try to cover some others as well, and there's bound to be some arise from the Obama Administration eventually. And we'll just tackle one event per entry I think, so I'll try to post a new event at least weekly.

OK...Let's begin with a big one: The attacks on 9/11.

We have a plane hit one of the trade towers, on video. Bush is in the South reading to some school children. There's confusion. Was it an accident? We didn't know so we didn't scramble any jets or military to take action. Not long after, a second plane hits the other trade tower. Another one flies into the Pentagon. I've seen pictures of the explosion, but where's the plane. A fourth plane crashes in a field in Pennsylvania. Some video was shown on the news briefly, then never again. You can look it up on Youtube though. There's a hole in the ground, sure enough. But no plane parts.

Bush is told we're under attack. Jets are scrambled off the East Coast. The response is too late. Thousands are dead, and some of the ones still alive are jumping from 100 story windows to their quick but tragic deaths. The country, the WORLD is shocked. The world's superpower, that mighty beacon of light called The United States of America has been hit and hit hard. Right away, we're certain enough to know who did it, that Bush says it right on TV; It was Bin Laden, Saudi Arabia's prodigal son. I wonder how we knew that; Could it have been that memo that Condi gave to Dubya about a week previous? That memo which stated Bin Laden was determined to attack inside the U.S.---using planes?

OK....I've certainly left out some details. Fill them in for me if you'd like. But I'd like to know the things that have rolled around in your heads since this horrible, tragic day.

Why wasn't the memo taken seriously? Or was it? Why wouldn't Cheney give NORAD the clearance to use jets to shoot down the commercial jets? Why didn't they show the photo of the PA crash on the news after that first time? Where were the plane parts and body parts? And a HUGE one for me: Why did Bush and Cheney agree to talk to the 9/11 Commission about what they knew, but refused to testify, under oath, and on the record?

OK, so that's the general idea. I just want your ramblings. Hundreds or thousands of things have gone through my mind about these events. I want to know what has gone or continues to go through your heads. The point: It will be fun, years from now when we may know more to see if any of us were more correct, or more wrong, than we now know.

Very interesting. I hope several people comment because I'm interested to see what others think. First off I just have to say I saw a very interesting clip on The Daily Show today. They were playing past clips of Bill O'Reily and Rush Limbaugh and others on FOX talking about how those that didn't support Bush were unamerican and things like that. Then they had clips of all of them already bashing Obama and flat out saying that they didn't support him in any way and even that they hope he fails. Interesting.

So 9/11. My ex was in the hospital for the second time in 2 months and it was a pretty scary time for me personally. My mother-in-law called and told us what was happening. She was freaking out cause her brother works 2 blocks from the WTC and they weren't able to get a hold of him. He ended up being fine, but couldn't get home for like 3 days. Those two things though definitely added to surrealness of the situation for me.

The first thing my husband said when I turned on the tv was that he bet it was Bin Laden. I had never even heard of the guy, so I was surprised that was his first assumption.

I'm not really one for conspiracy theories, but I know that there are some people who think our government was involved. I personally don't believe that at all. What I do think is that we had warnings and it was the government's sheer feelings of superiority that allowed it to happen, or happen the way it did. I don't think our government thought there was any way that someone really could make that type of attack on us. I just think it was arrogance.

And that look you see on Bush's face when he was told, I think that is just shit-faced scared. Like what the crap do I do right now.

I actually didn't really know there was theories that there wasn't a plane in Penn. I just watched some videos on YouTube and it is pretty interesting. We've all seen airplane crash footage, and I think we can all agree we have never seen one that doesn't involve any parts of the plane or things in it. I also saw footage that the long scare was visible on satellite photos years before, so all that was new was a round hole. That's really interesting. I wish I knew more. We know there was a flight, we have heard calls from the passengers online, so what happened? Did we shoot it down? Wouldn't that still leave debris? Wow, what the hell is going on with that plane?

I've heard people that think there were bombs in the WTC and that is why there was so much damage. I really don't know enough about engineering to know what would make a building like that come down, but if there were bombs it wouldn't surprise me that Bin Laden's guys put them there as a back up. I think they made sure something horrific was going to happen.

Personally I think it all boils down to the administration knowing a lot more about it but not being able to make any of that public because they didn't take the threat seriously. What else can you figure when someone won't talk under oath? Securities being leaked? I find that hard to believe. I think they could have told us a lot more, but it would have shown that they had some prior knowledge.

I hope someday we know more. Part of me hopes that we didn't know more at the time. Cause that's a pretty scary thought when you really think about it.

I'm interested to hear what others think.

I will never forget this day. However, I think it is very important to not just look at the Bush administration as "at fault" after all he was only in office 8 months when this took place. We know that the plans for this attack took years and years of planning. This sort of attack would have been very difficult to carry out had the Clinton administration not cut back on intelligence and national security funding. Bin Ladens men were able to live here unnoticed planning this attack learning to fly from our own American flight schools. You can't fix that sort of infiltration in 8 months. Nor could you receive all the information neccessary to be able to stop the attack in time.
I hope and pray that Barrack is not opperating on the same mentallity that Clinton was. I think I would rather everyone be broke and safe from our enemies in our own country than well off financially and vulnerable to more terrorist attacks. Not trying to be controversial or anything I am trying to support Obama's administration though I don't agree with many of his policies or ideas. I am just offering a different perspective that I think should be looked at.
I find it very interesting that many Americans didn't find it odd that a little guy from Chicago with very little political experience all of the sudden has enough campaign money to beat out Hillary Clinton who has been campaining for years in the Primaries then practically own the press for the rest of the election efforts.

First of all, Andrea, are you Andrea Ringger? I assume so, since you said you were going to post. Secondly, thank you for your post. I think the things behind 9/11 are much bigger than any of us know. My point is not just to lay blame on the Bush Admin., as I think what may be behind events as these are much bigger and badder than Georgie. My point is, since we don't really KNOW the details, is just to solicit everyone's ideas. I want to know ANYTHING that's ever gone through your head about it; anything you've ever wondered about.

As far as Barack beating Hillary--for me it was a no-brainer, but no small task either. Barack's campaign strategy was the right plan. It may be that he played the odds and won, as I think Hillary was the favorite. But Barack's campaign was funded, in HUGE part, by small donations from people like me. His campaign wasn't just a campaign for president; it became a movement that people wanted to be a part of. That's how he did it.

Anyway, thanks for posting. And if you have your own, or have heard anyone else's crazy, or logical, conspiracy theories, please post them.

How about the bailouts. This has got to be some vast conspiracy for the gov't to get control of all the most powerful private sector companies. They are going to own everything before this economic crisis is over. If they bailout Microsoft then I will be really scared. They are all telling us that the 'taxpayers' are really the ones giving money to these companies for the bailouts. That is just a smokescreen. It makes most people mad to hear that, but then they spin it and say that we as taxpayers kind of own shares in these companies and when it recovers it will all come back to us. Yeah right. I swear this is some conspiracy for the federal reserve to own EVERYTHING. I just can't believe that our politicians are going for this. It is completely the opposite of capitalism. I know that all of the repubs voted against obama's stimulus, but they had enough support to give the first 700 billion. So democracts and republicans can all go to h-e-double toothpicks.

Bombowly, I agree with you. Thanks.

So are you going to tell us what your "theories" are? Enquiring minds want to know.

Well, first of all, I think Bush/Cheney know WAY more than they've let on. I'm VERY disappointed that there wasn't more scrutiny as to Bush refusing to testify under oath to the 9/11 commission. That says he has some culpability to me.

Also, I've seen some pretty convincing videos that seem to show there was in fact other detonations to the building, which are what actually brought the towers down. The owner of the towers slipped and said in an interview that he gave the command to "pull" building 7 (the short one that wasn't hit but fell anyway). So, building 7 WAS a controlled demo. Why? I don't know, unless it was meant to destroy A LOT of financial records or something. But a controlled demolition in the middle of Manhattan would take weeks to plan and set all that dynamite. So how did it happen in a matter of hours on 9/11, once the twin towers fell? Something's fishy.

Also, was it, in fact, the Bush families ties to the royals of Saudi Arabia that led to 13 members of the Bin Laden family being safely flown out of the states only 2 days later, and without a thorough investigation---like, "Where's your cousin, Osama?"

The hole in the side of the Pentagon was small---not the size of a jumbo jet. And it crashed into the side which had been under construction at the time. And it was the side opposite to those offices of high rank people, specifically Rumsfeld. Coincidence? Maybe.

The crash in PA is what gets me as well. WHERE ARE THE PLANE PARTS AND PEOPLE PARTS? A FREAKING HUGE JET JUST CRASHED AND THERE'S A SMALL CRATER BUT NO PARTS. This leads me to think that maybe that one WAS shot down, and it wasn't the heroic story that we see in "United 93." (By the way, LOVED that movie).

Anyway, these are a few of the thoughts that have wandered around my brain from time to time.
